Our storyIt all started with a trip to Italy!
The seeds of Lucia Gelato were planted during three trips to Italy with my husband and a group of Whistler friends. On these adventures, we enjoyed numerous stops at gelato stands while travelling and mountain biking around the country. These initial seeds fully bloomed on a trip to Australia shortly after our daughter, Lucy, was born. We surfed everyday and continued our travel-tradition of regular visits to the gelato stand after catching some waves.
Enjoying this little ritual gave me an idea for Whistler. But where to start? When I returned home I began researching how to make a proper gelato! This led me back to Italy where I attended a gelato-making course in the food-epicenter of Bologna. Learning from the Italian masters has enabled me to make gelato and sorbetto in the “old fashioned artisan” manner using the freshest, most natural ingredients possible, with little or no compromises. Hopefully you can taste the difference!
